Project Happy Feet

Working to allow all students the opportunity to play sports

About

Project Happy Feet was founded in July of 2023 by Laura Jablonover, a student-athlete at Winston Churchill High School. Project Happy Feet has expanded and evolved into a nationwide organization that has successfully received and donated over 3,000 pairs of athletic equipment and shoes. Our “Happy Feet” donation boxes are set up in over 20 locations in Maryland, as well as across 13 states. We are working to donate shoes and sports equipment to all who could benefit in order to move closer to completely equal access to athletics. Laura currently runs track at Emory University and continues to oversee the national branches, along with co-presidents Noor Aly, Caroline Rilette and Kaylee Tasin.

The PHF Process

From the members of our community to the schools of students in need… Follow Project Happy Feet’s 3-step process to giving students access to the sports equipment they need!

  • Collection drives range from individual teams to schools or community centers. We encourage everyone to bring any new or lightly used equipment they have at home!

  • Once our PHF boxes are full to the brim, we sort through our donations, inspecting for quality. If the shoes do not meet our standards, we recycle them through other organizations. Then we clean and sort shoes by size, tailoring the batches to our beneficiaries!

  • Once we have collected a sufficient number of shoes, we reach out to Title I schools in our area as well as schools with a majority FARMs percentage. It is wonderful to see the bright smiles of school leaders and hear about their plans for future sports programs.
